About This Item

Paris: G. Charpentier, 1883. Leather. Very Good. 4.5" by 3". Jean-Paul Laurens. A smartly bound copy of 'L'Abbe Tigrane' by Ferdinand Fabre, with two illustrations by Jean-Paul Laurens. This volume is in French and contains a biography of the papal candidate, Tigrane. 'L'Abbe Tigrane' is a story of dissension in the Catholic priesthood of France. There are two illustrations by Jean-Paul Laurens. Jean-Paul Laurens (1838 – 1921), was a French painter and sculptor, and one of the last major exponents of the French Academic style. In the original quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the extremities. Rubbing to the extremities. Some marking to the leather to the joints. Light discolouration to the spine. Ink inscription to the front blank endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the very odd handling mark and spot. Light age-toning to the plates. Very Good
