About This Item

New York: United States Book Company Successor to John W. Lovell Company, 1890. This is Volume II of the "Prose Dramas of Henrik Ibsen" and contains two of his most famous plays, "An Enemy of Society" and "The Wild Duck" as well as "The Young Men's League" and the Title play. A Very Good copy of the First American Edition, which is rare. The plays are translated by Clara Bell, William Archer, Eleanor Marx Aveling, and Harry Carstarphen. Lime green cloth binding, with a dark green spine. Green lettering on the front cover, gilt on the spine. Clean text; 520 pages, with two pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. The condition is Very Good (Minus). Previous-owner notation on the FFEP. While a sound copy, it is not as atractive as one would wish. The corners are bumped, although not badly, and the light green cover suffers from some soiling. On the spine some heavy rubbing has affected the title, now only partially visible (although "Ibsen" is clear). In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/No Jacket.
