A very scarce work.Illustrated with twenty-nine plates, six of which are chromolithographs.Collated, bound without the title page and plate 17.Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the Victoria and Albert Museum Libraries.A beautiful work on Japanese art, showing striking patterns in Japanese design, both commonly found and more unique designs.Reproduced from the originals by Gustave Fraipont, a painter, illustrator, and poster-designer. He is particularly well known today for his posters for railway companies.In French. In a quarter morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, a little worn. Leather to the spine is rubbed with a little loss and some lifting, particularly to the tail. Some bumping and wear to the extremities. Label to the front board. Cloth to the front joint is lifting. Some marks and a little rubbing to the boards. Hinges are starting. Internally generally firmly bound, most plates detaching to the tail. Pages are lightly age toned with a few minor marks. Plates 7, 8, 22, 23, and 30 are detached but present. Lacking plate 17. Pencil marks to the margins of a few plates. Good Only

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
