George G Harrap & Co , 1928 1928. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG++/G++. 1st Edition. 19 x 24.8 cm green cloth with gilt stamped titles and decoration to the front and titles to the spine, top edge gilt other edges uncut. Pictorial endpapers, 102[1], [1]blank, gilt and black decorative title page, 8 colour plates including frontispiece and black and white illustrations within the text. In original dust jacket. The boards have been well protected by the jacket and are clean and bright with just a touch of rubbing to the spine tips and corners. Internally, without name, inscription or bookplate and just a little light spotting to a couple of pages. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) is lightly dust stained with a couple of ink marks on the rear panel. There is loss to the spine tips and corners of up to 1.5 cm. Loss at the head of the spine extends for 1.5 cm on to the front panel and 4.5 cm on the rear. There are a few closed tears on the top and bottom edges extending up to 4.5 cm. All in all a very good looking book in a scarce dust jacket. It tells the tale of Ichabod Crane, a poor school teacher who falls in love with a lovely girl in town and plans to court her despite his rival for her affection, Brom Bones.  After rumors of the Headless Horseman start, things get more complicated...
