London: Leisure Hour, Publisher, 1898. Half-Leather. Good. Half leather with marbled boards. Original wrappers bound in. 812 pp. Black and white illustrations throughout, including a piece by E. Burne-Jones. A bound volume of this general interest magazine including history, science, travel, literature and poetry. This includes a history and account of Australia; a several page account of chess playing of the day, including photos of several women and accounts of chess playing by telegraph; brief passages on American railway accidents, the Japanese in Canada, etc.; an account of bicycling across Persia; short pieces on the rites of Native Americans, Australian aborigines, new uses for electricity, Halloween festivals, etc. GOOD condition. Ex-library with spine label, interior pastedown and scattered stamping in the interior. Heavy bumping and scuffing along the extremities and covers. Minor soiling and staining. Hinges and spine tips very worn. General toning in the interior. Minor scattered soiling.
