No dust jacket, this is John Gardner's first book, preceding his The Resurrection by four years, it is essentially a text book written while he was an English professor at Chico State College, Signed by Gardner, it includes John Steinbeck's The Chrysanthemums, pages 248-258, text from The Long Valley, Goldstone & Payne B124, not recorded by Morrow, also includes Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Edgar Allan Poe, Anton Chekhov, James Joyce, and others. Very good plus.

With its illustrated dust jacket, first separate printing of this superb short story, No. 83 of 100 numbered copies illustrated with hand-colored wood engravings and Signed by the illustrator, Colleen Dwire Weaver, including a wood engraving of a young John Steinbeck writing, this illustration lies within a double-spread title page and was created by Weaver from photos of Steinbeck by Sonya Noskowiak and Robert Capa, it also includes an Afterword by Weaver who produced this fine press item as part of an intership and who later received permission from Elaine Steinbeck to sell her remaining copies (most were given away to her family and friends), very scarce. Fine.

With the first issue point of the Franklin Press notation on the copyright page, but with the errors on pages 124, 263, and 362 corrected, making this a second or later printing, with three blank leaves at the end, marbled endpapers and edges, with 192 illustrations, bound in publisher's three-quarters calf and marbled boards, with red spine panel for title and black spine panel for author, with other spine panels decorated in gilt. General wear, especially worn at extremities, else a very good copy.

London, J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd., 1920, first edition, first printing, dust jacket. Hardcover.. Original green cloth, it follows the American edition, but includes revisions not found in that edition, back jacket panel includes advertisements for other works by Conrad, Cagle A49b, Keating 133. Bit of age, else very nearly fine.

This is Wolfe at his best following Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters in the wild, wacky, wonderful, and turbulent 1960s, with the wonderfully psychedelic front jacket illustration by Milton Glaser. Near fine.

Lucchesi, includes four short stories, they are The Warrior's Soul, Prince Roman, The Tale, and The Black Mate, all the stories were privately printed originally, this is their first trade publication, Smith 27, Keating 193. Very good.
