Rare. 8vo, bound in contemporary polished calf, the spine gilt ruled and with red morocco lettering piece gilt. i[iv], 407, [8 index] pp. A very well preserved copy, the binding still strong and with only light evidence of age or use, the text-block clean and crisp. FIRST EDITION PRINTED IN DUBLIN AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ENGLISH PRINTING IN LONDON. 'Savary was the first Frenchman to cite Arabic texts in his work...and indeeed his knowledge of Arabic served him well in his traels when there were many difficutlites for European travelers in the Mediterranean areas. His letters on Greece are descriptive of the places and inhabitants he viited (especially the Dodecanese).' see Blackmer 977 p. 445
