A superb copy , 238pp. bound in full, rich red morocco with morocco doublures and silk in an edition of 12 specially bound by the Knickerbocker Press for the father of the author. Two letters laid in from Francis H. Saltus (author's father) to Edna M. Green. Francis Saltus Saltus (as he was known) led a gang of bohemians including his brother James and a Young James Huneker whose desire for absinthe was mixed with a devotion to the erotic and sensuous. (See Yungfrau, p. 19, Ophelia, p.31, and the Awakening, P. 230.) Laid in: From Francis H. Saltus (writing at the age 103) to Miss Greene who knew his sone though she was a member of the DAR. Compartments with ruled and dot lines and decorated with gilt bell and floral devices. Red title label, dotted and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. Original decorative bell endpapers bound in. A lovely copy of one of the most popular books of poetry published in the twentieth century.

London: Macmillan, 1868 Publisher's brown morocco. Front cover has a recessed blind and gilt stamped panel, intricately decorated in gilt and blind with painted ivorine centerpiece. Back cover has the same recessed panel without the inset. Gilt turn-ins. All edges gilt. . Octavo. Binding extremities lightly rubbed. Intermittent light foxing and minor marginal tear on p. 96. First few gatherings have been re-inserted. Contemporary ink inscription on front flyleaf. A very good copy and an example of a vulnerable deluxe trade binding that has remarkably survived.

Full aluminum with decorative cutouts and onlays. Spine sticked. Black and gold endpapers. . Small quarto. Color-illustrated on almost every page using a combination of linoleum block printing, ink, pochoir, and colored pencil, along with mounted fabric. Printed on Zerkall Book Laid paper in six different type faces. A fine copy.

Single gilt ruled border on boards. A lovely copy of this beautifully produced volume.

A beautiful copy, fine.

Nugent completed Vol I and then travelled to Mecklenburg to gather material for a second volume. Free access to ducal archives and opportunities to meet other scholars provided a wealth of material. Comprising Book III - reign of Pribislaus II to Albert I 1329; and Book IV - of the Dukes of Mecklenburg, from Albert I to Henry the Fat, 1329-1423. Complete with 2 full page engravings. Bound in an exceptional contemporary full leather binding with extensive gilt tooling and an intricate star design to boards. Raised bands to spine. The binding has some darkening to the spine, some tenderness at the top of the joint with the front board, and some wear to corners and edges. Marbled endpapers. Aeg. Contents in very good condition - occasional light spotting and some offsetting from the engravings to the text. A lovely volume.

A clean tidy copy bound, for Truslove and Hanson in London, in early half burgundy morocco, spine with a single raised band, dotted in gilt. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Top edge gilt. A small amount of wear to the extremities and some marks to the cloth boards but still overall a very good, attractive copy.
