BY4 - An ex-library first US edition hardcover book SIGNED by Paco Ignacio Taibo II on the title page in very good condition in very good dust jacket that is mylar protected. Dust jacket has glue stains on the flaps, light discoloration and shelf wear. Book has library markings (labels, stamping, cardholder, etc.), glue stains on the endpapers, some bumped corners, light discoloration and shelf wear. Translated from the Spanish by Beth Henson. The author is a winner of the Hammett Award from the International Association of Crime Writers and the Planeta/Mortiz Award. The main character in the story is the most celebrated author of police thrillers in Mexico. A mining city has suffered 300 years of oppression which has finally lead to a radical people's government. The brutal ruling class is waiting for a chance to get back into power but the town's police chiefs keep getting killed. The city government decide to ask the author to come to town as the new police chief, reasoning that the author's fame and reputation will keep him safe.
