About This Item
London, Longmans, 1908. An extremely attractive and minutely observed account of wild life and (hunting) sport - mainly in the woods, streams and chalk downs of north-west Hampshire. As with so many keen hunters, Dewar was in love with nature and made the closest observations of all kinds of wildlife and plants with great delight. With two coloured plates by Archibald Thorburn, illustrations from photographs, etc. Medium 8vo. xii,274pp. Eight plates. Four photogravures. The book is in excellent condition. Original black cloth, elaborate pictorial gilt motif of flying ducks and beautifully lettered title on front. Motif of rabbit and leaves on the spine. A little mild foxing here and there, and some tanning of the endpapers, but really this copy has hardly been read and would be a delightful gift. Size: 8vo.
