About This Item

New York: Doubleday & Company. Fine in Very Good+ dust jacket. 1946. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Color Illustrations; Oblong 4to 11" - 13" tall; 42 pages; 1946 Doubleday & Co. Oblong format HC/DJ. 1st edition, 1st printing. Tightly bound and exceptionally neat in black quarter cloth backed spine and vivid color pictorial paper covered boards, with matching color pictorial design to the uniformly bright dust jacket with the original 1st issue $2.50 issue price intact to the unclipped front flap. The book feels and appears generally unread with Weisgard's stunning color art lushly printed with deep huesand color saturation. First edition stated. Dust jacket crisp edged and uniformly bright, marred only by a short closed tear bottom edge of the rear panel, trace rubbing at spine ends, a tiny nick bottom edge of the front panel, small area of soling front edge of the cover and a few small point abrasions where a sticker had been placed top front corner of the front panel. A very handsome and well preserved copy of the 1st state printing of this lovely Caldecott winning title from the golden age legends - Margaret Wise Brown and Leonard Weisgard. F/VG+++ .
