First edition. A title in the "Children of America Stories" series. A combination of fiction and fact, this is the story of 9 year old John who is left at his uncle's house while his parents motor through New England, and his mother sends him letters every week describing the sites they have visited. Meanwhile, John has encountered a mysterious old man named 'C.F.' Illustrated with photographs. Green and white map endpapers. Bound in glossy white boards with a blue cloth spine and a full color illustration on the front (illustration is repeated on the dust jacket.) and printed throughout on good quality semi-glossy paper. 156 pp.
