A fine and clean copy in an early fine binding of half green morocco. The spine has two raised bands, each with decorative gilt tooling. Tan title label, gilt. Gilt ruled box designs. There is an illustrated multi coloured leather onlay design to the middle of the spine showing a couple walking in the rain, under an umbrella. Blue cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Previous owners colour bookplate to the front paste down. A fine copy in a fine binding. The binding is unsigned but certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

One small area of loss (finger nail sized) to the bottom inner margin of one page, well away from the printed text, and a few finger marks but otherwise a very good copy. Finely bound in recent full dark blue morocco leather. Spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Twin red labels, gilt. Single gilt ruled border to both boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. An attractive copy of this charming book.

Spines with blind ruled bands and lettered in gilt. Gilt stamped Author's symbol device to the front boards. Blue marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. Each volume with a red silk page marker. Housed in a red cloth covered slip case with marbled paper lining. The spines are a bit rubbed and there are a couple of small scratches but overall this is an attractive set of this important collection. Only a few sets were issued in these publishers delux leather bindings and they seldom turn up on the market.

Finely bound, by Ramage of London, in beautiful early full brick red morocco, gilt. The spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt, including dark green dyed central dots. Elaborate floral centre design to boards with gilt tooling over green and fawn leather onlays. Floral corner decorations with green morocco onlays. Board edges with partial ruled gilt lines. Inner Dentelles fully decorated with gilt ruled lines and floral designs, surrounding fawn Moire silk centre pieces. Silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Spine just very slightly toned. A light mark to the top outer corner of the rear silk endpaper. Neat school prize label, from St. George's school Harpenden and dated 1913, to the front blank free endpaper and gilt coat of arms stamp to the front inner board but otherwise the pages are clean and bright throughout. A beautiful copy.

Finely bound by Cedric Chivers of bath in early twentieth century binding of full plum morocco. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Decorative line and floral design to both boards. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Mottled coloured endpapers. Turn ins with double ruled lines and floral design. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Two previous owner bookplates on the front paste down endpaper. A little fading to the spine but overall a very near fine copy.

John Murray. London. 1853. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. 8vo. (6.8 x 4.4 inches). vii, 112pp. A very good clean copy in a fine late nineteenth or early twentieth century arts and crafts style leather binding of full red morocco. Spine with decorative floral design in gilt and two curved-edged brown onlay labels, lettered and bordered in gilt. Front board with elaborate gilt floral design within a double ruled border. Brown onlay panel, lettered in gilt, and onlaid bow and several small leaves in green leather. Board edges with thick and thin gilt ruled cross lines. Turn ins decorated with gilt flowers to the outer corners. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt, the others untrimmed. The first English edition, published the same year as the original Brussels edition. The binding is not signed but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder. A beautiful and skilfully executed binding.

Bradbury, Evans & Co. London. - No date. Circa 1901. FIRST EDITION. 4to. (13 x 10.2 inches). Illustrated with 116 full page plates, many larger and fold-out. Finely bound in attractive early binding of full tan morocco. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt dots. The compartments with single blind ruled boxes plus double gilt ruled lines around a fully gilt decorated panel, each featuring a dark green leather flower onlay to the centre. Front board with elaborate floral gilt roll within double ruled lines and 48 dark green leather flower onlays round the edge. Central panel double ruled, lettered and with two floral devises, all in gilt. The rear board has the same roll design around the board, again featuring 48 green leather flower onlays, but with the floral parts in blind, all in double gilt ruled lines. A lovely copy of this 19th century poem in a fine, highly attractive, but sadly unsigned by the binder, leather binding.
