New York: Alfred A. Knopf. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 1950. First Edition; Second Printing. Hardcover. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 267 pages; [SIGNED] 1st and 2nd printings before publication. Essentially the 2nd printing of the 1st edition, both issues printed prior to the official release set by the publisher. Warmly inscribed in red pen by Buechner "For Sam[? ], thirty-four years after the fact, with admiration and affection from his fellow author and Lawrentian, ...December 1984." Solid clean copy in original black cloth with title lettering in metallic copper to spine. Dust jacket bright and clean with publisher's $3.00 issue price on unclipped front flap. Jacket is rubbed at spine tips and corners with a few very short closed tears. A solid and attractive early printing of Buechner's highly regarded 1st novel, author inscribed. NF/VG; Signed by Author .
