London: Printed by J. Crowder, For E. Newbery, 1796. Leather Bound. Good. Being an Elegant Collection of the Most Delightful Little Stories and Interesting Tales, Chiefly Translated from that much Admired Work L'Ami Des Enfants. With 74 Cuts, Designed and Engraved on wood by I. [John] Bewick. One of the most successful compilations for children produced in the period, with several editions. This one further enhanced by the charming engravings and vignettes of John Bewick, younger brother of Thomas. pp. (8), 271. 12mo, 7" x 4-1/2". Bound in full polished calf, neatly rebacked, corners strengthened. The tp has a series of very small cuts along part of its top edge with a lesser number to the following leaf. Faint traces of childish doodles to front endpapers, a touch of browning to prelims, else a firm, tight copy, pages clean and crisp and in very good condition.
