Bound in brick-colored red flexible cloth with Gilt streamer man running, (spine #7) the book is in VG+ condition with minimal wear to spine extremities. Solid binding, very bright gilt, gorgeous red topstain. Contents are clean with slightly browned pages and no owner's name or other writing in text. The dust jacket is Near Very Good-with minimal chipping at the top of the spine and light edgewear & lite stain,. DJ is darkened overall with rubbing in several spots. Internal tape repair to front endflap fold.. Nice DJ design! 4 1/4 X 6 1/2 IN. Approx, 294 pgs, NO ADS IN BACK ,copy of a controversial Modern Library title involving bisexuality and cross-dressing. MODERN Library #53. The time has passed when furtive readers of Mlle. de Maupin barricaded themselves behind locked doors to read a forbidden copy of Gautier's masterpiece.
