New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1923 Red cloth with embossed cameo of Twain on front cover; gilt spine lettering and decoration. Introduction by Albert Bigelow Paine and an Appreciation by William Dean Howells. Spine and portion of gilt moderately sunned/dulled. Portions of gutters darkened. Light cover wear overall, with minute tears at spine edges. First front blank endpaper neatly removed. Vestiges of few erased checkmarks in Contents pages. Newspaper article laid-in at pp. 82/83 with dark imprint to text pages. Prior owner penciled intitials at inside rear cover. Otherwise clean and tight.
