Second printing, with Marsh Island priced at $1.25 in rear ads. Minor shelfwear. Light soiling to spine, with fraying of cloth at head and tail. Light scuffing to front and rear covers. Age-toning to textblock. Signature of previous owner on second free endpaper. With 12 pages of advertisements in rear. Shelved in Case 6. BAL 10885.


In June 2023, Don James McLaughlin, assistant professor of 19th-century American literature at the University of Tulsa, wrote a scholarly edition Sarah Orne Jewett's "A Marsh Island" published by Penn Press. McLaughlin highlights Jewett's themes of queer kinship and same-sex domesticity, and draws parallels between her queer-coded novels and her own life. (Penn Press). 1371918. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
