Quarterbound in publisher's off-white paper (boards) and chocolate brown cloth (spine), gilt lettering imprinted on spine. Glossy color dj features photo of Beaufort, SC plantation scene, 1862, under federal occupation. Endpapers feature reprod of Chesnut's handwriting in gray against off-white paper. lviii pp prelim material, 886 numbered pp, six blank following. Intro materials includes Chesnut bio material, plus editorial policies, challenges. Notes, index. Condition notes: A fine copy, light wear to dj, covered in mylar, no chips or tears. Binding square and sound, lower spine end rolled, lower front corner bumped. Very faint beginnings of foxing to top edge. Pencil price notes lightly to front free endpaper, otherwise none. Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
Furrowed Brow Books' goal is to offer an eclectic selection, while providing specialty offerings in Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantine civilization, theology, Christian mysticism, science fiction/fantasy (Inklings emphasis), and military history.
