About This Item
London: Paget, 3rd edn 1843.. Hardcover. Good. Frontispiece and 9 plates, as called for. vi, 594 pages. Fairly plain half maroon morocco with olive boards, spine and corners ruled in gilt. 22 x 15 cm A take-off of 'Master Humphrey's Clock', by Charles Dickens. Reynolds out-sold both Dickens and Thackeray in the 19th century but is hardly remembered today. Good. With the old rubber ownership stamps of G. E. Casper on front endpapers. Some occasional browning, especially of prelims, and signs of use. Both hinges cracked internally, but very strong and secure in a good tight binding.
