About This Item
New York : A.L. Burt Company, 1922. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Russel Crofoot (dust jacket). Very Good in like dust jacket. See scans and description. New York: A.L. Burt Company, an early reprint of the 1922 Robert M. McBride & Co. copyright. 'McCarty Incog. Encounters a New Mystery', by Isabel Ostrander. Rare dust jacket illustrated by Russel Crofoot (yes, he signed his work with just the one 'L'). 12mo, illustrated jacket, dark green cross-textured cloth boards, gilt imprinting on front cover and spine, 313 pp. (307 + 6 pp. ads). A Very Good book showing darkening to the gilt, moderately pushed spine ends, and a prior owner's signature on the ffep., in an About Very Good jacket with some small points of edge wear and a white spine which has incurred some soil. See all scans. An extraordinarily scarce title in either the Burt or the McBride edition - particularly with a jacket. A Cape Cod murder mystery featuring ex-roundsman Timothy McCarty and his friend Dennis Riordan (the two of whom were the inspiration for Agatha Christie's 'Tommy and Tuppence' anthology, 'Partners in Crime') - not to mention the local authorities and, of course, a beautiful, though prematurely deceased, young lady. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box - not a bag. Hard to find. L4
