About This Item

Charlottesville, VA: F. Carr and Co, 1829. Volume one was written by Jefferson at age 77, and includes a journal kept by him while Secretary of State during Washington’s administration. "The rest consists exclusively of a voluminous correspondence, ranging from 1775, after blood had been spilt in Boston, to June 1826, only ten days before his death" (Sabin). In very good condition, without portrait plate in volume IV, owner's signatures to the front pastedowns.
