Saint John, NB: Weekly Herald Job Rooms, 1877 Book. Very Good Minus. Hardcover. First Edition. 4 3/4 x 7 1/2 Inches. Original dark green cloth over boards with blindstamped borders and gilt lettering. Minor wear to corners. A binding error has resulted in pgs. 17-20 being inserted between pgs. 20-24. Rev. Dunphy was an Irish-born Catholic priest who'd grown up in New York. He came to Saint John to visit an uncle, and, after studying for the priesthood, was assigned to Carleton (West Saint John) after three years on the North Shore of New Brunswick. While in Carleton, Dunphy's temperance mission greatly reduced the number of taverns. He also established schools. Scarce. 127 pp..
