Contemporary ink inscription (shelf location) in upper blank margin of front wrapper. 15 pp. *** FIRST and ONLY EDITION, dealing with a contract dispute over the trade in wine.Eduardo de Moser (Lisbon, 1816-Porto, 1893), later 1.º and only Visconde (1882) and 1.º Conde de Moser (1890), was the son of Georg Christoph Heinrich von Moser, consul of Wurttemberg in Lisbon, the first of the family to establish himself in Portugal. Eduardo became a merchant in Porto, was consul of Norway and Sweden there, and in 1852 founded the Real Sociedade Humanitária do Porto. He founded the Companhia de Utilidade Pública, the Banco Mercantile, as well as shipping company which made voyages to Brazil. Influential in the building of the artificial port at Leixões, he was a friend and companion of Camilo Castelo Branco, who mentioned him in his works. Affonso Botelho de Sampaio e Sousa (Sabrosa,1792-Porto, 1867), fidalgo da Casa Real, was a decorated infantry major who fought in the Peninsular War. A supporter of D. Miguel, he was decommissioned from the army upon the victory of the liberals. Deputy to at least four legislatures during the 1850s and 1860s, he wrote a pamphlet about wine trade legislation, published in 1864, and several articles about viniculture and the wine trade in the Diário de Lisboa.*** The present work not in Innocêncio; for the author, see VIII, 10; XX, 92.
