About This Item

Cooperstown: New York State Historical Association / The Farmers' Museum, 1989. Facsimile Edition. Stiff paper wraps. Very Good. A miniature book that measures 2" x 3 1/8". Pp. 8. Illustrated with four block prints. Bound in hand-sewn, printed, laid-paper wraps. Top edge of leaves with faint dampstain. Signed on the title page by printer Homer Martin. Sports covered include cricket, archery, blowing bubbles, and walking on stilts. Rear wrapper with an advertisement for Babcock's "Toy and Juvenile Books." Homer Martin's tenure as printer at the Farmers' Museum began in 1964; if special letters or designs were needed, he engraved them on the end grain of cured apple tree wood, as here, running the print shop true to 19th century practices.
