Alnwick; Catnach and Davison, 1807., 1807. Hard Cover. First Alnwick printing. Quarto in half sheets, pp. 140, [2]. 6 engraved plates and 10 tail-pieces, designed by Mr Thurston and cut by Luke Clennell at the workshop of Thomas Bewick. Publisher's original plain light brown paper covered wraps with partial MS title to spine. 19th c. ownership inscription of Mary Lafone. Covers soiled with significant surface loss to spine and cracked joints, but holding firmly. Bold ownership and gift inscriptions to ffep and half-title, and to p. 11; scattered light foxing. A very good copy in the publisher's original boards. Printed by the partnership of John Catnach and William Davision, with woodcuts specially commissioned from Bewick's workshop and executed by Luke Clennell, Bewick's apprentice.
