New York: Garden City Publishing Co., Inc., 1937. Second Trade Edition. Hardcover. Fair/N/A. The highly coveted deluxe edition with illustrations by Rockwell Kent In blue pictorial cloth with gilt to type and illustrations. Top page ends tinted blue and that has lost color. This volume has the iconic whale flukes design on cover and the harpoon motif on the spine not present on the Lakeside Press Llimited Edition or Random House First Trade Edition. Corners rubbed and rounded - especially at bottom with tiny spots rubbed through. Spine ends rubbed as well with some fraying to half of heel and just corners of head with tiny chip. Spine is well toned with some spots/marks and loss to gilt. Some lost of gilt to cover as well from rubbing and a few spots to rear cover. Some spots from spray to front page ends and a few smudges to bottom page ends. Previous owner's name to front pastedown and spot to gutter of front endpapers. Date and price in pen to page preceding frontispiece. Some intermittant underlining, marks and a few words here and there in pen. Rear hinge is just starting to separate, but still solid. A few marks to rear endpapers.
