New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1962. First Edition. 1/4 cloth. Very good. A very good first edition. Black quarter cloth over red boards. Gilt title stamping on cover and spine. Previous owner's name on first free endpaper, otherwise clean and bright. 304 pages, including index. 6 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches. Edward M. Kosower is best known for his earlier work in physical organic chemistry and later work in biophysical chemistry. In particular, he developed the Z scale for solvent polarity based on the solvatochromic effect for zwitterionic dyes and investigated bimane dyes as fluorescent labels.
