About This Item
Chicago, IL: The Monarch Cycle Manufacturing Co, 1896. First Edition. Original wraps. Good. 7 X 8 1/8 Inches. 40 PP. Original 1896 product catalog for the "chainless" bicycle company, Monarch. The Monarch was arguably the most important and widespread of all bicycles in the late 19th Century. At the time of this catalog (1896), Monarch was at it's height of success with over of 50,000 sales a year. The success of the company was short-lived and by 1899 they were defunct. Numerous illustrations throughout. Six bicycle models covered in detail at end. Original chromolithoraph cover art of child flying with his bike clean and complete. Light wear to edges and the spine is starting. Some toning and foxing. A scarce original catalog in commerce.
