Tokyo: A.D.A. Edita, (1982-1988). Quarto. 1984-1988. The definitve 12 volume set of Frank Lloyd Wright's complete works in original boxes with the expert notes of Jack Howe. Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer in his work John H. Howe, Architect: From Taliesin Apprentice to Master of Organic Design writes: "Just as Wright had risen to chief of design under Louis Sullivan, Jack became Wright's chief draftsman He was the person most responsible for producing the avalanche of drawings for Wright's architectural designs during that twenty-seven period", p. 6. As the chief interpreter of Wright's designs he became head of the Taliesin studio. He was considered Wright's right hand man who understood each design immediately and either drew them himself or delegated them to one of the young architects surrounding him. His ability "to rapidly produce drawings of extraordinary beauty" led to his becoming the lead architect for Taliesin Associated Architects following Wright's death (see p. 10). When John H. Howe designed Readleaf for William Krebes, his best friend, Krebes acquired the massive 12 volume set on Wright produced by A.D.A. Edita, he asked Jack to note throughout the set who were the draftsmen that he had delegated to carry out Wright's ideas. While at least 80% of the 675 designations are of Howe himself (designated under each drawing as J.H.H.), he also has identified the work of Blaine Drake, Gordon Lee, John Hill, Alan Davison, A.G.G., Curtis Besinger, Berta Hamilton, W.W. Peters, Ling Po, as well as the occasions when Wright himself would return and add foliage, trees, rock, color, (or as in one case where he modified or reworked entirely [as is the case of #28 in 1937]) and over 40 times these are noted). Contents as follows: v. 1 Monograph 1887-1901 - v. 2 Monograph 1902-1906 - V. 3 Monograph 1907-1913 - V. 4 1914-1923 - V. 5 Monograph 1924-1936 - V. 6 Monograph 1937-1941 - V. 7 Monograph 1942-1950 - V. 8 Monograph 1951-1959- V. 9 Preliminary studies 1889-1916 - V. 10 Preliminary studies 1917-1932 - V. 11 Preliminary studies 1933-1959 - V. 12 In his renderings 1887-1959. Each volume is pristine in original dust jacket and box. The designations by Jack Howe are neatly printed at the appropriate drawing as noted on the accompanying sheets.

Casa del HerreroHouse of the Blacksmithstands today as one of the most fully developed and intact examples of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. It was designed and built between 1922 and 1925 as a second house for George Fox Steedman, a St. Louis industrialist. Thought principally to be the work of George Washington Smith, the architect, Steedman himself generated many ideas during the initial design phase that were both a blessing and curse to Smith. Steedmans vision prevailed, and throughout the decade following the houses initial completion, he continued to rework both house and garden, engaging the architects Lutah Maria Riggs, Edwards, Plunkett & Howell, and Floyd Brewster, and garden… Read More
