Housman, in the unclipped dust wrapper. A collection of poems by A E Housman, the first trade edition, published simultaneously as a limited edition in a fine binding with an extra illustration showing the original manuscript for the poem "Tarry, delight".Published posthumously, the final selection of his poems, which are often characterised by a simplicity and their distinctive imagery. Housman was one of the foremost classicists of his age, ranked as one of the greatest scholars of all time.The present volume contains poems such as 'O youth whose heart is right,' 'I promise nothing: friends will part,' 'Tarry delight, so seldom met,' and 'He, standing hushed, a pace or two apart.' Most poems were printed here for the first time and reflect the author's homosexuality. With the unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with a frontispiece. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. With a very faint damp marking to the head of the spine. The dust wrapper is sound with shelf wear and edge wear and some slight chipping, with a minor puncture mark to the spine and a minor loss to the head of the spine. The spine is slightly sunned. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a frontispiece. Collated, complete. Very Good Indeed
