New York: Dorset Press, 1990. Facsimile reprint. Hardcover. As New/Fine. 4to 11" - 13" tall. Aubrey Beardsley. A just and due classic homage to chivalry and romance, drawing on the French tradition of rendering King Arthurian legends. The title page continues: "The birth life and acts of King Arthur of his noble knights of the round table their marvellous enquests and adventures the achieving of the san greal and in the end le morte darthur with the dolourous death and departing out of this world of them all." Sumptuous facsimile reprint of the reprinting by J.M. Dent in 1909 of the original Caxton Edition of 1485, but containing the entire text and over 1000 of Aubrey Beardsley's illustrations (ten from the First Edition being omitted), he having been barely 20 years ago at the time. Bound most handsomely in black cloth over boards, with bright and distinct gilt lettering to spine, gilt illustrations to spine and front and rear covers. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, showing only very minor wear, not price-clipped. Housed in a simple cardboard slipcase, a bit abraded to edges but still solid. Laid in is a publisher's single-page advertisement regarding the history and importance of the book. liv + 624 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
