Interior is clean and unmarked. Pages toned. Dust jacket shows light edge wear and rubbing; in a clear archival sleeve. 11 full page illustrations. 160 pages. 7.2 x 4.7 inches. The adventure of Trader John, a young man who wagers his life and fortunes on an attempt to discover the fabulous ruins of Zimbabwe, the last outpost founded by the early invaders of Africa. John William Hairs (1880/2-1958) was born circa 1882 in England, moved to South Africa when he was sixteen, and where he met Cecil Rhodes, fought in the Boer War and World War I, lived in Melbourne and the United States (including Shreveport, Kansas City, and Carmel).
