First Printing Fine in paper covered boards with copper colored text stamping on the spine with a blind embossing of a manatee on the front board. In a fine, unclipped dust jacket. Thirteen authors contributed to this novel which was serialized in The Miami Herald. Each author provided a chapter then passed the work in progress along to the next author. 201 pages of text. A very clean, tight and bright copy with no prior ownership markings of any kind.
Synopsis
Naked Came the Manatee is a mystery thriller parody novel published in 1996. It is composed of thirteen chapters, each written by a different Miami-area writer. It was originally published as a serial in the Miami Herald's Tropic magazine, one chapter per issue, and later published as a single novel. Its title is a reference to the literary hoax Naked Came the Stranger. The book was written during one of Hiassen's classic boat parties off the coast of Key Largo.
