Boston, Milford House, [1973], First American edition, original edition was London, pub. by John Murray, 1836. . original cloth, gilt spine title lettering, slightly rubbed, clean, very good, sound and tight copy. . 8vo [21.5 x 14 cm]; viii, 305 pp, 10 plates (complete), 2 maps, title page vignette, additional map added. . An unabridged reprint of the first edition (see Naylor 115. Palau 315283. Sabin 85346. Welch 213.) Goodman 588: 'The narrative of two British naval officers who made the journey to investigate the feasibility of the Amazon route as an outlet of the products of the interior'. With much on the indigenous peoples, conditions, mines, agriculture, customs, rivers, living conditions, wildlife, etc. The two maps called for at the end of the1836 edition were replaced with a reprint of a map of Chili from the Blaeu atlas of 1640. This is the case for all copies of this edition, making this copy complete. A picture of this book is available on request by email.
