With large folding map of Ireland. Hardcover bound in contemporary or early 3/4 leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The binding shows heavy wear. The front board is detached; the rear board is holding by the cords. The leather on the front and rear boards is chipped away at the hinges and the binding generally appears worn and heavily rubbed. The leather on the spine is a bit darkened, suggesting it having been damped, and also has a couple of chips missing. Dual black leather labels on the spine. Likely an ex-library copy; a bookplate has been removed from the front pastedown. The paper of the text shows some waviness, also suggesting having been damped, although there are no tide-marks in the paper. Text is untrimmed. Text is toned and occasionally foxed, especially on the pages around the map.… Read More

Norway, with illustrations by Josh Pennell and Hugh Thomson/Hardback, 1907, fifth reprint (originally published 1897) numerous illustrations and foldout map to rear, published by Macmillan & Co., Limited, London, 391 pages + viii.Octavo/8vo. Measures around 8" by 5 3/4" by 1 1/4". Green soft leather binding, gilt edging and detail to boards, gilt college crest to front board, red leather label and gilt lettering and extensive detail to spine. Some scuffing, a little marking, small signs of shelf-wear but overall colouring of leather and gilt detail very vivid apart from rubbing to small part of crest on front board. Binding firm. Corners slightly bumped. Book fans out a little towards outer edges, slight curvature to boards. Page edges and endpapers have attractive marbling. College prizegiving bookplate to front pastedown.
