About This Item

1842 Jardine Mammals Naturalist LION Skunks Raccoon Bats Illustrated Capybara

Sir William Jardine was a 19th-century Scottish naturalist most known for his extensive series of books on natural history, 'The Naturalist's Library'.

This fine 1842 edition of Jardine's 'Naturalist's Library' is beautifully illustrated with 32 color engravings of the world's mammals! The plates from Jardine's 'Mammals' are exceedingly desirable and are found framed and displayed by themselves. This volume of British Quadrupeds covers a wide variety of lesser-known animals such as the Banded Civet, Capybara, and Echinda, as well as more common mammals including the lion, skunk, raccoons, anteaters, squirrels, wallaby, fox, and bat.
