Moderate edge wear and soiling. Previous owner's book plate. End papers beginning to fox; text generally clean and bright. Very Good. *** An unusual Paris imprint, within a year of the 1st edition. The publisher, Galignani and Co. being a famous bookseller and bookstore, catering to English Residents and visitors. Text in English. Cooper's biography of an English sailor, who, in 1812, renounced his British citizenship and became an American. He was later recaptured by the British. This work is of particular interest to naval historians of the period.
