From Negro to Caucasian or How the Ethiopian is Changing His Skin

Octavo. 64(1) pp. Louis Baldwin was instrumental in bringing the first National Negro Businessmen's Convention to Boston in 1900, which was organized by Booker T. Washington. Baldwin was a member of the planning committee for the convention and was made member of the new National Negro Business League's executive committee. This book presents the way fair-skinned Blacks had abandoned their one-time affiliations with Negroes, including their own relatives, and by mingling at first commercially or industrially, then socially with Caucasians, have ultimately been absorbed by the latter. The text is an early look into the practice of passing, meaning fair-skinned minorities passing as white. The book has been cited in numerous texts on the subject.
