About This Item
This is a first edition of Nelson: The Essential Hero, written by the British naval historian Ernle Bradford (1922-1986).
Horatio Nelson is considered to be one of the most inspiring and perplexing characters in history. In this biography, Bradford discusses Nelson's own battles, but also looks at naval warfare of the period in general. He describes the strategies, tactics, ponderous ship-to-ship bombardments, and terrifying injuries, as well as Nelson's policy of annihilation of the opposing fleet, making the point that Nelson regarded the escape of a single enemy ship as a failure
367 pages, including lots of photos and maps.
There's only a tiny amount of wear to the dust jacket, and there is some yellowing to the pages. Otherwise, the book is pristine.
