Wellington: New Zealand Government Publicity Office, 1926. Paperback. Very good condition. Four tourism brochures highlighting the delight of sports in New Zealand, especially fishing. The first page is the printed poster art for three brochure front panels, with vivid color graphics. With much material on New Zealand fishing, especially swordfish and mako fishing. No mention is made of rugby.
The brochures are: 'New Zealand, the land of sport'; 'New Zealand Fiords and Lakes'; 'New Zealand, the Sportsman's Paradise'; and the last, 'New Zealand, Home of the Big Fish'. The last brochure, N. Z. Publicity Brochure Folder No. 6, focuses on big game fishing off the northern coasts; with many b&w photographic images. The brochure describes swordfish caught in the Bay of Islands and the Bay of Plenty weighing between 200 and 528 pounds, and mako weighing up to 500 pounds. Other fish described include the thresher, the kingfish and the kahawai.
Oblong small folio, [31pp]. Stiff printed brown paper wrappers, bound with brown cord. Title in gray and black at front wrapper. Bagnall, N1875. Trove 45841036.
