"9" in ink at upper right-hand corner of first page. This is from vol. 4 of The National Portrait Gallery of Distinguished Americans. The biographical essays were issued in parts on a monthly basis, with separate pagination. The author of this essay, R.T.C., has not been identified. In Very Good- Condition: disbound; light foxing, heaviest on last two pages of text; otherwise, clean and tight.
