Washington DC: Wendell and Van Benthuysen, 1848. First edition. Three-quarter leather. Very good. 416pp. Octavo [23 cm]. Modern rebind in three-quarter brown calf over decorative boards, gilt-stamped spine titles, raised spine bands. Leather at rear lower corner pulling up just a bit at edge, else leather and boards unworn; foxing throughout lightly toned text. All 40 engraved plates present, missing all three plans/ maps. W. H Emory was Brevet Major of the Corps of Topographical Engineers. His report was submitted to the Senate and the 30th Congress by the Secretary of War.
