Haworth (1768-1833) was a British gardener and entomologist who was also a leading authority in succulent plants; he had a garden in Chelsea where he grew succulents. Haworth grew species of the genus Mesembryanthemum, a prostrate succulent plant native to Africa, Sinai and southern Europe, in his garden. Haworth died of cholera that he possibly contracted on a plant-collecting trip to Africa. Armorial bookplate of Earl Fitzwilliam - this is the title in both the Peerage of Ireland and the Peerage of Great Britain held by the head of the Fitzwilliam family. This volume likely belonged to the fourth Earl, William Fitzwilliam. Also on the front endpaper is a printed label of the place name: Milton, Petersborough. This place name is also connected with William Fitzwilliam.
