[Brantwood, Coniston, Windermere, Lancashire: Reprinted from the ENGLISH REPUBLIC, ca. 1850s].. [2]pp. Octavo broadsheet (22.5 x 14.5 cm), printed recto and verso. Small chip at extreme top left forecorner, otherwise near fine. First separate printing of this essay by the radical chartist and illustrator, William James Linton, and identified as a product of his private press at Brantood. The article first appeared in the pages of Linton and Watson's monthly, the ENGLISH REPUBLIC (1851- 1855). Linton would later take leave of the UK and establish his own press in Hamden, CT.
