Racine in one large paper volume. With a memoir of his life by Louis Racine. Jean Racine was a French dramatist, considered one of the three greatest playwrights on the seventeenth century, along with Moliére and Corneille. His works are notable for his use of the French alexandrine (dodecasyllabic), and the elegance and purity of his writing. Illustrated with a frontispiece and twelve full page plates. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's quarter straight up grain morocco binding over cloth covered boards. Externally sound with minor shelf wear, chipped to head and tail of spine and extremities, boards lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Occasional light spotting and offsetting to odd leaf, otherwise pages bright and clean. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
