In his career he wrote more than 10,000 columns covering every major event and sporting personality of his time. He also reported on more than thirty Kentucky Derbies, and was asked to serve as president of Churchill Downs after the death of Mr. Kentucky Derby, Matt Winn. Corum, himself, died before the publication of the book, and it was edited by his friend and co-author, Arthur Mann..
