FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. . *** CONDITION: The book is bound in the original full red cloth, with marbled edges. With two color woodblock print end papers: th front has a Hiroshige Tokaido Gojusan Tsugi [Fifty Three Stages of the Tokaido Highway] with print number 1 the beginning of the highway at Nihon Bashi, Edo. The end paper print is by Hiroshige showing "Evening Snow at Akasaka Templ " in the "Twelve Snow Scenes of Azuma [Eastern Provinces. . The frontispiece is a color map of Japan with insets of her colonies: Formosa, Hokkaido, Kurile Islands, Karafuto; Looch [Ryukyu Islands]; South Sea Islands, Marianna’s, Marshall & Parao Islands; Southern Archipelagos. . The binding shows a very minor bit of use, trivial rubbing to the spine upper hinge, and a bit of trivial corner wear, much better than the average example, actually quite clean, crisp and solid throughout. . Each and every map, folding map/plan & folding color maps are present per the list of maps & all illustrations are also present. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . *** .
