Title abbreviated from 'The History of the Great War Based on Official Documents by Direction of the Committee of Imperial Defence', to History of the Great War or British Official History) is a series of 109 volumes, concerning the war effort of the British state during the First World War. Second edition and thought to be first printing. In very good plus bright red cloth boards, gilt titles to spine. The boards are very firm, flat and clan; spine ends a little bumped. The maps featured on the end papers are very lightly tanned. Slightly tanned cut edges. The text pages are tightly bound, straight and lightly tanned around the edges. With coloured maps and sketches by Major A.F. Becke. No dedications etc. Very good condition. In good red bordered dust jacket with battle scene to front with soldiers holding up rifles and black and white titles. The jacket is unmarked, with worn edges that have small open and closed tears. Not price clipped. Inside plastic cover.

Clevedon Community Bookshop, co-operatively owned, opened on 31 December 2011 and now has a general stock of approximately 20,000 books. Our bookshop in Copse Road is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00am to 4.00pm. The co-operative comprises just over 600 members from around the world and was set up to stop the only second-hand bookshop in our town from closing. The benefit of being a member/shareholder is only social: no-one benefits financially. All profits are used to improve the bookshop and its stock, and, through events, to contribute to the literacy and literary profile of our town.
