About This Item
The Old Century by Siegfried Sassoon
Hardback, 1938, first edition, published by Faber and Faber Limited, London, 293 pages.
Octavo/8vo, measures around 8 1/4" by 5 3/4" by 1 1/4". No dust jacket. Grey patterned cloth binding, green label with lettering and decoration to spine. Some marking and scuffing to binding but reasonably clean. Tear along length of outer rear hinge, a little tearing to front outer hinge but spine still attached there, with a little tearing at head and tail of spine also and some creasing. Other signs of wear, rubbing at edges and on hinges, bumped and slightly torn corners. Book has a forward tilt. Binding slack but contents reasonably firm. Page edges browned, scuffed and marked. Some minor foxing to pastedowns and endpapers, occasional foxing throughout. Red lettering to front free endpaper - uncertain of this was printed or if it was stenciled by a previous owner. Some other marking and grub to page surfaces here and there, the odd tear but no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
